Some popular forum scripts are:

- IPB (very professional looking and usable but very few themes available)
- vBulletin (the preferred forum script right now)
- MyBB (very usable but there are bugs and themes are too few)

The first two are paid and are automatically beyond the means of most people. So you should stick to the last. It’s pretty good, really.

Was just browsing and came across this…

Firefox hack:
1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Kinda works but don’t know if that’ll get me banned by high security websites… might think i’m trying brute force attacks.

Anyone know of any tweaks for firefox? This was the first one i came across.

I found that while searching for the bugmenot extension. I’m not sure if it works though. It’s active anyway on my comp but my connection really isn’t the best to test if it works or not.

Nice hack, though.

i found the tip on the digit magazine but was too lazy to take it and tweak firefox.

thanks for posting this cause i changed the settings now. and it does make a slight difference to page loading speeds.

R!
and thanks to M who did that in my house and the browsing speed is cool man

M
really? i didn’t see much difference.

i installed GoogleAdBGone and it blocks so many ads that web sites seem incomplete. gaps here and there. i like an ad or two now and then. don’t use it. (of course it doesn’t block google ads)

G
Somehow, I prefer AdBlock. Works fine, and has that neat customisability.

M
what about ad sources on the page that draw ads from different sites every time.
